Amazing sand art !!!!

Amazing sand art !!!!

These 'Sand Arts' are created by Jim Denevan using the twigs or branches which are brought to the shore by the waves, without using any kind of measuring instruments. Jim draws -- working up to 7 hours and walking as many as 30 miles. His work has been featured in the New York Times, National Geographic, Elle, GQ, The Surfers Journal, and Outside, as well as in many other national and international publications.

Jim Denevan makes freehand drawings in sand. At low tide on wide beaches Jim searches the shore for a wave tossed stick. After finding a good stick and composing himself in the near and far environment Jim draws-- laboring up to 7 hours and walking as many as 30 miles. The resulting sand drawing is made entirely freehand w/ no measuring aids whatsoever. From the ground, these drawn environments are experienced as places. Places to explore and be, and to see relation and distance. For a time these tangible specific places exist in the indeterminate environment of ocean shore. From high above the marks are seen as isolated phenomena, much like clouds, rivers or buildings. Soon after Jim's motions and marks are completed water moves over and through, leaving nothing.

In 2005 Jim Denevan had his museum debut the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California. Also in 2005 Jim Denevan's work was shown at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, California.

Cool Bead Crafts

Cool Bead Crafts

These are perler bead crafts Foglera have made over the past couple of years.

Beads were arranged on special interlocking 29x29-bead square pegboards, using nearly every color available from Perler (the big buckets don't include every shade), both of which are available through eBay resellers. The pieces range in size from 3" to nearly a square foot.

Source images for the sprites came from Google image searches, sprite collection websites and my personal screen captures.

All the emoticons came from the Something Awful forums, of which Foglera have been a member for many years now.

Coasters were made by gluing 1/8" corkboard to the bottom of the piece using Tacky Glue and trimming the edges flush.

Fridge magnets were made with simple adhesive-backed magnetic tape.
